Noble Corporation creates award for George Brown Colleges School of Apprenticeship and Skilled Trades

Noble Corporation has generously donated $30,000 to fund scholarships for students in the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies, School of Apprenticeship and Skilled Trades. On Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 Noble Corporation’s gift was celebrated at a cheque presentation ceremony at George Brown College’s Casa Loma campus.

The Noble Futures Award will be awarded to four students per year for the next five years. Starting this 2017-2018 academic year, two full-time students in the Plumbing Techniques Program (T165) and two full-time students in the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician Program (T160) and/or the Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology Program (T162) will be eligible for the award.  Awards will be given to first- and second-year students who demonstrate financial need.

“Our goal at Noble is to support the building industry and those working in the trades. We are committed to delivering what our customers need, when they need it – and we see supporting the next generation of trade’s professionals as part of this mission. We look forward to working with graduates from George Brown as they enter their career and we partner as industry professionals, but while they are in school we look forward to watching them grow and learn,” said Jim Anderson, General Manager of Noble Corporation.

In addition to Jim Anderson, in attendance at the ceremony from Noble Corporation were Ulyana Fedyna, Marketing Manager for HVAC and Hydronics; and Jennifer Brown, Marketing Manager for Plumbing, Industrial & Fire Protection. In attendance from George Brown College, were Anne Sado, President of George Brown College; Adel Esayed, Dean of the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies; Cindy Gouveia, President, George Brown College Foundation; Denise Devlin-Li, Chair of Apprenticeship and Skilled Trade; Krisztina Arany, Senior Development Officer of the George Brown College Foundation; as well as faculty and students from the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies.

“We’re happy to see support of such important programs that build specialized skills. Motivating students through scholarships like these is something we truly value at CCET. Through this award our students know that their efforts are paying off and that their future in the industry will be one supported by great leaders like Noble Corporation”, said Devlin-Li.

The gathering not only celebrated the generous donation from Noble Corporation, but also Noble’s 25th Anniversary. “Today we acknowledge the success of Noble Corporation within the building supplies industry over the past 25 years. As George Brown College celebrates its 50th anniversary, I cannot think of a better way to mark these milestones than with an award that supports future industry leaders. We are excited to partner with Noble to make a contribution that will benefit the construction industry for the next 25 years and beyond,” stated President Sado.
